Muse CafĂ© on the “West Edge” of Queen Anne is fantastic. If you have not been it is located on the corner of 10th & Howe. Recently they were able to get a hold of a very rare bean. I know, it sounds absurd. It’s just coffee right?
Well, sort of. These beans can only be found on the Idido Town, Misty Valley estate in the Idido / Gedeo area of the Yergachef region of Ethiopia (whew!).
I just had the most interesting and geeky conversation with Brent Martin, the owner of Muse, and his roaster guy (who knows too much). Today I decided I wanted french press coffee rather than my usual drip. French press brings out more of the flavors of the coffee and can also make a stronger brew. For $3 I got a hot thermos (20 oz?)! Immediately after pouring I smelled delicious and potent blueberry! No joke. While blueberry and coffee together do not sound good, I kid you not, it is amazing. These beans have a strong berry essence, coupled with notes of lilac. Apparently to get these flavors, they leave the fruit on the bean for as long as possible, naturally fermenting and thus, adding a more fruity/berry flavor. I am done … I do not know enough to go on but this website has soo much info if you are really that interested!
So, I invite you to join me at this event at Muse. It is not this Friday but next. I know it seems a bit spendy, but my justification is supporting a local entrepreneur in growing his business and getting the word out. PLUS, if you, like me, LOVE LOVE LOVE coffee and chocolate or are just interested in having some funs, it is a great excuse to get out of the house!
Tammy, if you are reading, I will pay your half for you and your hubby to come b/c I know he would love it … and I know I couldn’t get you out here otherwise. :-p
P.S. If your name is or ever was Captain Kim, you must come to the event with me.
